Welcome! Have a look at my current projects.
As winter deepens...December was exceptionally busy, with TWO orchestral premieres -- one with The Classical Saxophone Project and the other with the Massapequa Philharmonic and a performance of "Chromatic Butterflies" for oboe and piano at the National Opera Center in Manhattan.
Winter has set in and I am preparing for a busy spring. March brings concerts on Long Island and in London. The Bryant Library in Roslyn hosts a LICA concert, on March 2nd: music for piano trio. I am excited about the premiere of my Piano Trio no. 1. Also in March a premiere of "Parley," for acoustic guitar and double bass duet, in which two sides begin in conflict and eventually navigate a truce. "Parley" was composed in support of "Her Endangered Melody," a fundraising event for female composers and rare instrument conservation, organized by guitarist Saffron Sonoda. March is Women in Music month: pianist Amy Wurtz performs the last movement of "Three Romantic Pieces" for cello and piano, part of her Women in Music series. "Three Romantic Pieces" will receive a full performance by Amy Wurtz at the National Opera Center, April 19th, with a repeat performance scheduled for July 15th. June will bring on e more Long Island Composers Alliance concert: works for clarinet, viola, and piano. Trio Atropos will perform works by Long Island Composers at the South Huntington Public Library. Meanwhile, I am working on composing a piece for vibraphone and string quartet, for percussionist Cassen Garrett. The new work is scheduled for a performance in September 2025 in Atlanta, GA. Len Marks Photography Many thanks to Dick Shanley for the gracious use of his sculptures: Dick Shanley, Artist "Catherine Neville’s Danses should really be choreographed, so successfully did she evoke the spirit of dance by mere suggestion. All the elements of Fantin-Latour’s painting were there– melody, articulation, rhythm – but in short bursts that sketched a body in motion." David La Marche, New York Concert Review
