The amazing Trevor New interprets a graphic score. Moving from notation to increasingly pictorial and verbal description, this music is meant to move us from the literal to the meditative/spiritual. The instrumental line uses musical notation throughout, however, it becomes increasingly optional for the performer to play it as written or to adapt/distort/repeat as needed. Suggestions for changes in pitch or use of distortion are written, colors and shapes above the notes may be interpreted stylistically.

This work for solo violin is the result of a call for scores from Dan Flanagan, professor of violin at UC Berkley and concertmaster of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera as well as the Modesto Symphony. Completed in April of 2020, the piece is inspired by an 1898 lithograph of the same name by Fantin-Latour, which depicts a woman dancing. Live performance took place at Carnegie hall, 2024.

A whimsical tone poem, telling the tale of an adventure beneath the waves. This score combines a traditional orchestra with electronically produced sound to create a rich undersea sound world, inspired by fantasy and adventure.

Performed by William Wielgus in New York, at the National Opera Center's Scorca Hall, December 18 2024. Composed in the early summer of 2022, the movements of two butterflies circling and finally landing on a milkweed flower are depicted in the interplay of solo lines in the oboe and piano.

The premiere of "Textiles" took place June 14, 2026, with the marvelous Craig Ketter performing. A lovely interpretation of music inspired by J.S. Bach's two-part inventions.
